V Care was founded by cancer survivor Vandana Gupta in 1994 to provide support to cancer patients to enable them to fight and survive cancer. Since then it has grown into a large organisation comprising of more than 50 volunteers and offering a broad range of services to cancer patients. V Care has so far supported around 2,72,765 patients in the last 5 years. V Care's volunteer group is central to its efforts. Volunteers consist of either cancer survivors' and those who have had some experience in helping cancer patients or those who have a high sense of commitment and passion for the cause. The volunteers work on an honorary basis. This ensures that V Care's administrative costs are very low (less than 5% of the total receipts). V Care has training and engagement programmes for its volunteers, and has been able to maintain a steady base of volunteers to ensure consistency and continuity in its efforts. V Care has a close working relationship with Tata Memorial Hospital amongst many others in Mumbai. Our core services to patients include: counselling, providing reliable information to patients and their families, financial assistance and support to children with cancer.
